Meet Oliver, Our DreamSF Fellow

Oliver (he/they) is a Bay Area local and recent graduate of San Francisco State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies and a minor in sociology. With a background in community organizing and advocacy, Oliver worked in San Francisco at LYRIC Center for LGBTQQ+ Youth to help amplify the needs of, and increase resources for, queer young people. An immigrant themselves, Oliver shifted his focus towards working with immigrant communities after seeing the lack of public awareness and assistance afforded them. Oliver feels that Oasis provides them an opportunity to help those who share his own identities. In doing so, they hope to be a point of support for those going through the naturalization/citizenship process, while strengthening their own ties to immigrant communities in the Bay Area.

The DreamSF Fellowship is a San Francisco-based leadership and professional development program for immigrant students and aspiring professionals who seek to gain real-world experience with social justice change-makers in the Bay Area. Fellows are paired with local immigrant-serving community organizations and gain hands-on experience in direct services, advocacy,  immigration law, and more, while growing a network of mentors. Fellows receive professional mentorship and attend weekly enrichment seminars to support their growth as leaders and community advocates.

We are excited to host Oliver for 11 months and support his professional development while he helps our clients obtain permanent safety in the United States.
